Across the year there are a number of teaching sessions provided as part of the regional teaching programme. Some of these have limited places and require you to request a place such as those in Kirklands or involving clinical simulation. The majority of sessions, however, just require you to turn up either at Stobhill, PRM or the Teaching and Learning Centre at QEUH. This means that the people leading the session never quite know how many trainees will be attending. Unfortunately this has resulted in sessions with external speakers taking place with only 3 or 4 trainees in attendance…
In 2018 we are therefore running a pilot of managing teaching attendance using Eventbrite, an online event management platform. Our teaching sessions are private events so only those who have been sent invites can see the page. The invite you will receive to your email account requests you to RSVP. We hope that this will highlight in advance if any sessions are going to be poorly attended and plans may be made to reschedule for a better date. The deanery teaching committee is not trying to keep tabs on anyone, just to highlight dates that might be problematic because they clash with something else!
You can of course still attend if you haven’t registered for a place but it really helps us plan the teaching programme if you do.
Watch out for email invites dropping into your inbox sometime soon.
